An Immunohistochemical Study of the Insulin-, Glucagon-, Orexin A- and Ghrelin- Immunoreactive Cells in the Endocrine Pancreas of Guinea Pig
نویسنده
چکیده
The present study was conducted to clarify the regional distribution and relative frequency of endocrine cells secreting insulin, glucagon, orexin A (OXA) and ghrelin in the pancreatic islets of guinea pig, by specific immunohistochemical methods. In the pancreatic islets, most of insulin-IR cells were detected in the central region, partially in mantle region. Glucagon-IR cells were located in the periphery of the pancreatic islets. In addition, they had lower frequency in the central region. OXA and ghrelinIR cells were identifed in central and peripheral regions of the pancreatic islets. Clearly, OXA-IR cells exhibited a characteristic distribution pattern resemble to those for the glucagonIR cells. However, ghrelin immunoreactivity exhibited a characteristic distribution pattern different from that of insulin-immunoreactive cells. In conclusion, some species-dependent unique distributions characteristics of endocrine cells in the pancreatic islets were observed in the guinea pig.

The aim of this study was to detect the regional and mucosal distribution of endocrine cells that secrete gulcagon, somatostatin, Chyholecystokinin-8 (CCK-8), serotonin, secretin, substance P (SP) and histamine in the small and large intestine of New Zealand white rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus L.) using immunohistochemical peroxidase-antiperoxidase (PAP) method. It was found that most of the im...

The cellular composition and relative frequency of the occurrence of pancreatic endocrine cells were studied immunohistochemically in a primitive eutherian and arboreal folivore, the three-toed sloth, since previous histochemical and ultrastructural studies on the endocrine pancreas of the sloth have detected only a single islet cell type, the A cell. In the sloth pancreas, four types of endocr...

Introduction: Type I diabetes mellitus is caused by autoimmune destruction of the insulin-producing β-cells. A new potential method for curing the disease is transplantation of differentiated insulin- secreting cells from human embryonic stem cells. Methods: Human embryonic stem cell lines (Royan H1) were used to produce embryoid bodies. Differentiation carried out by growth factor-mediated se...
متن کاملDistribution and frequency of endocrine cells in the pancreas of the ddY mouse: an immunohistochemical study.
The regional distribution and frequency of pancreatic endocrine cells in ddY mice were studied by an immunohistochemical (peroxidase anti-peroxidase; PAP) method using four types of specific antisera against insulin, glucagon, somatostatin and human pancreatic polypeptide (hPP). In the pancreatic islets, most of insulin-immunoreactive (IR) cells were located in the central portion. Most of gluc...

The endocrine cells of Salmo trutta macrostigma stomach and pyloric caeca have been investigated using immunohistochemical techniques. 8 antisera were tested and 6 of them were detected in the endocrine cells serotonin, somatostatin, substance P, galanin, CCK and neuropeptide Y. These immunoreactive cells are described for the first time in the stomach and pyloric caeaca of Salmo trut...
